October is a big month for me. The most important part of October will be my next set of scans which should finally lead to a plan of action after waiting 6 months since the radiation and chemotherapy treatments. October is also the month my birthday is in. That’s right, season is almost here! But it’s not just any birthday. It’s the big Five Oh…, 50…, Half a fucking Century! #OldAsDirt.
But you’re not here to wish me a preliminary happy birthday. You’re here to find out about my current health status. So here we go…
Still have the booty issues. It’s like Nickelodeon is hosting a children’s game show in my ass. I won’t go into more details then that as I don’t want you losing your appetite. But there are new issues which have become a cause for concern.
I’ve been getting these really intense headaches in the middle of the night, every night. They’re accompanied by swelling on the roof of my mouth. This led me to think I had a separate dental issue but after 3 different dentist visits I checked out ok by their standards. I’ve also been on antibiotics from my family doctor and it’s not clearing up so that rules out a sinus infection etc. So what’s causing these brain shattering headaches? My cancer is stage 4 which means it’s spreading through my body. My biggest fear is some type of brain tumor etc. I’ll have more info in a couple weeks.
Next are my feet. These ugly dogs that I always keep socks on to prevent scarring people. They’ve started swelling. I elevate them and so on but sometimes it gets pretty bad and simple acts such as walking become a chore. No idea what’s causing it but I’ll be sure to bring it up to the Shar Cancer institute when I go in a few weeks.
“My neck, my back…, my neck and my back!” Well actually just my back. I’ve broken out all along the sides of my back. The middle is fine. But as it gets closer to my sides it resembles a Lil’ Caesar’s Most Bestest Pepperoni pizza. Now I’ve had an occasional pimple on my shoulder or back over the years but this is like someone left braille on my skin so the blind could read my mind. They come to nasty heads and are deeply imbedded. They’ve outlasted the incubation period for monkey pox so this is clearly something else.
And last but definitely not least is a dental issue. Another tooth broke off while I was eating. Chemotherapy & Radiation 2 ~ Tony’s smile 0. While this doesn’t cause me any physical pain the fact that I’m starting to look like a meth addict is very disturbing. And since the probable future involves surgery followed by more chemotherapy getting my teeth fixed will simply have to wait. In the meantime I’ll leave whole sections of apples unscathed when I bite into them.
So that about sums things up. I still have body weakness from the treatments 5+ months ago. My hair is greying and falling out. For the first time in my life I beginning to look my age. This journey has been difficult to say the least but hopefully it will be coming to a close soon. Until then all I can do is continue to press forward and defy the long time running joke that at the age of 50 I would reach my expirations date. So until my next doctor visit I’ll be waiting along with all of you for this most important update!
