Butt Snot

Colon cancer causes blockage of the colon. This can prevent you from being able to defecate. But there’s another side effect that’s often overlooked which is the mucus discharge that gives new meaning to the term shart. I’ve decided to refer to this phenomenon as Butt Snot.

Imagine if your butt hole could sneeze. This is essentially what happens maybe 75% of the time I get the urge to go. It sometimes leads to ‘accidents’ while sleeping. I imagine this is what it feels like to have cum leaking out of your ass hole. It’s one of the nastiest things I’ve ever witnessed first hand. It keeps me close to a toilet from fear of not having enough bodily control to prevent another BP oil leak.

Mentally, this has been the toughest part of my ordeal. Imagine being potty trained in early childhood just to lose control over those functions. The simple act of something as trivial as laughing too hard can turn into people laughing at you. It’s definitely a strike against one’s vanity.

When you have a life threatening disease you contemplate death more then you normally would. My skin is still scarred. My legs are still spaghetti noodles. I’ve made it to 185 lbs but it’s not a healthy weight gain. Physically I’m a shell of the man I used to be. But mentally I keep trying to push forward. Each new challenge is a test to pass, and obstacle to overcome, a lesson to learn. And even with my decision to forgo the desired surgery from my cancer team I still have a back up plan. Sometimes the choices we make are the correct ones regardless what the ‘experts’ say about it.
